Seems like amongst the different opinions as to what exactly Mastitis is, the prevailing medical opinion refers to it as an inflammation of breast tissue that may include an infection.
The inflammation is due to milk being trapped inside some conduits inside the breast. If there is infection, it may be due to trauma to the nipple or a clogged milk duct.
However, due to MSM's anti-inflammatory properties, it sure would not cost much to use the MSM sulfur nutritional supplement. And use the MSM topical gel, which gives more MSM to the area of pain by increasing blood flow to accelerate healing of the tissue and the skin.
It is suggested to take 2,000 to 6,000 mg of MSM daily in the form of crystals or capsules to see if it helps. Starting with the lower dose and increasing slowly as you go until you reach the level that seems to relieve the pain. Women that had a previous bout with the condition should start as soon as they realize their pregnancy if they are not already using MSM.
