In his more than thirty-five years of clinical pain practice with the use of DMSO and over thirty years with MSM, Dr. Stanley W. Since the publication of Dr. Jacob’s books (1999-2004), a good number of published peer reviewed studies have identified taurine as the amino acid responsible for the increase in energy, thus the extensive and popular use of taurine in mostly all energy drinks.

Here is another one of my own experiences. After twenty-three years, I re-read the book “The Miracle of MSM” by Drs. Jacob and Lawrence. I realized that at eighty years of age, I had been taking 4,000 to 8,000 mg of MSM daily for twenty-three years and I should probably have increased my intake due to all my medical challenges (Arthritis, Interstitial Cystitis, Neck Injury, Plantar Fasciitis, Sinusitis and Sleep Apnea). I decided to increase my intake slowly to 20,000 to 25,000 mg or 20 to 25 grams daily and I can attest that I should have re-read the book again earlier as my energy doubled in the first month and I have not had any side effect. One must understand that as we age, especially above sixty-five, the health disorders one deals with take a higher toll on one’s body, so it is normal to increase the intake of the good important sulfur nutritional supplement that helps one keep these diseases at bay. The body’s organs cannot be performing as well either, so the MSM helps the organs perform closer to their peak performance.
Many people use MSM in weight training and other sports to increase their energy. However, because of the hype of the energy drink business, many now believe that the energy drinks are sufficient.
So, if your energy does not seem to be as it used to be, it is suggested to take 2,000 to 8,000 mg of MSM daily in the form of crystals or capsules to see if it helps boost it. Start with the lower dose and increase slowly as you go until you reach the level to give you the energy level you feel good with, without giving you any side effects. As mentioned on this website and in the literature available from MSM clinical experts, the only observed side effects of taking too much when one takes more than one’s body needs are some minor gastrointestinal discomforts or diarrhea. If this happens you just have reached too high of a dose, just lower it. However, remember that it is of extreme importance that if you start taking the MSM nutritional supplement, please stop the use of all laxatives and stool softeners at least one day before. Because MSM is known to increase energy level, try not to take it near bedtime.
And do not forget that when your energy is lower than it used to be, there is a reason so there is no harm in trying to boost it with a natural nutritional supplement that has been proven to help many diseases and help boost energy. With higher energy, one keeps viral infections at bay more easily.

Notice: Every time you use the MSM therapeutic topical gel, make sure your hands and the massaged area are clean because the MSM penetrates the skin, and one does not want to infect the skin with dirt. Also make sure that you rub the MSM gel in until your hands and the massaged area are completely dry to avoid the MSM crystals staying on top of your skin when the gel’s water evaporates. The demineralized water-based gel contains 15% MSM, which is the maximum to avoid crystallization.
